Discover Cotopaxi through the eyes of travel agents

The Cotopaxi FAM trip at Chilcabamba Lodge brought together 28 travel agents, operations managers and DMC representatives from 22 different agencies last month. The visit aimed to showcase our mountain experience in the Ecuadorian Andes, connect with our roots, explore nature, taste local products and highlight what makes Chilcabamba unique.

Participants were welcomed at our cozy lodge, toured our facilities and enjoyed the hospitality we are known for. From the common areas to the rooms, they could take in spectacular views of Cotopaxi volcano.

An immersive exploration of the Andes and the lodge

During the tour, the agents experienced our sustainable tourism approach up close. They took part in authentic activities with local partners, such as Patricia, our guide who has collaborated with Chilcabamba for more than a decade. Her experience made it possible to adapt each route to different traveler profiles, offering personalized, high-quality attention.

Our guests also took part in activities that are part of the Chilcabamba experience, including local partnerships. One of the most special moments was meeting Patricia, one of our local guides, who has worked with Chilcabamba for over ten years. Patricia shared valuable insights on how to adapt our experiences to different traveler profiles, always ensuring personalized, high-quality service.

Local collaboration and sustainable tourism

Another memorable moment was meeting Iraldo, an authentic chagra (Andean cowboy) and neighbor from the area, who is the only authorized guide for horseback rides inside Cotopaxi National Park. He shared stories and an authentic perspective on real life in the Andes.

Iraldo also introduced our visitors to his artisanal honey, which he produces in his own hives. This honey is served at the lodge, together with fresh trout from his own lagoons — a sample of Chilcabamba's commitment to local sustainability and fair collaboration.

What the travel experts said

This short trip left a deep impression on our guests. Many highlighted the beauty of the surroundings, the warmth of the team and the level of detail in the lodge's infrastructure and services.

“Thank you for the invitation. Congratulations! Everything was very well organized, and the place is beautiful. We loved visiting the lodge and experiencing the magic of the site.”
Regine V.

“Congratulations on the product you offer: the facilities, the sustainable approach to the environment, the integration of local communities and the personalization of the service.”
José P.
